Landscape Improvement Projects

The KOP-BID Physical Improvement Program promotes high quality public landscapes and an attractive and well maintained physical environment through various projects.

In the first few years, KOP-BID will focus on design and installation of landscaped medians along high visibility corridors, gateway and wayfinding signage and streetscape elements such as pedestrian lighting, street tree plantings and promotional banners.

  • Landscape Improvements for Medians:
  • Landscape rendering of improvement project
    for medians along DeKalb Pike.
    • Landscape improvements for six (6) medians along DeKalb Pike and three (3) medians along First Avenue will likely be completed in two-phases. Lager Raabe Skafte Landscape Architects developed plans for the medians that include a variety of perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees that will bring year-round interest.
    • The large, dramatic masses of plants will create an appealing aesthetic for drivers and pedestrians and hopefully contribute to a safer driving environment.
    • The plantings will begin fall 2011 and continue through spring 2012.
    • KOP-BID is partnering with the following organizations on this project: The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT); The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS); and Upper Merion Township.
  • Welcome Signage:
    • "Welcome to King of Prussia" gateway signage for six (6) major entrance points into the community is in the conceptual design stage. The signs will define the boundaries of King of Prussia and will likely be installed in spring/summer 2012.
